The Slovak translations of the Gabriel García Márquez’s short novels and the edition’s strategy

Abstract

The present article compiles the main data gathered from a survey of the presence of Gabriel García Márquez’s short novels in the Slovak book market. It attempts to reflect on their reception within the Slovak literary and cultural context, as well as on the influence of the form of their editions on the Slovak reading public’s reception. The analysis is based on the updated bibliography of the Slovak translations of the author’s works and paratexts accompanying their publications.
