Cervantes and the classical structure of the Knight of the Forest

Abstract

The article is a detailed study of the resources Cervantes uses in the creation and support of one of the culminating moments of the second part: the first meeting of Don Quixote with the bachelor Samson Carrasco, under the guise of ‘The Knight of the Forest’. The result shows how action and rhetoric are put at
the service of the narrative once again and as Cervantes’ own style brand. It clearly reveals not only the variety of literary sources that he manages, but his conscientious way of writing and composing literature from Literature itself.
