From reading to action: an alternative for reading comprehension in the ELE class for Hungarian students of compulsory secondary education
Abstract
This paper offers an alternative to reading comprehension by integrating, among other learning methods, cooperative learning. During the project described several linguistic skills and general competences such as intercultural competence or the learning to learn skills are developed at the same time. In addition, it helps students of different learning styles (auditory, visual and kinaesthetic) in the learning process. The results show that students participating in the project have better results at the time of evaluation than students who learned with the frontal instruction method, still dominant in the compulsory secondary education in Hungary.
