La montaña y la caída. El existencialismo en la literatura de Virgilio Piñera

Resumen

This article analyzes Virgilio Piñera's short story "The Fall" from the perspective of existentialist literature . Philosophy and literature share some common characteristics within the literary text, and existentialism is a philosophical movement that emphasizes the relationship between these disciplines. This paper aims to analyze the elements of philosophical existentialism present in the Cuban writer's short story. To do so, I will attempt to demonstrate that Virgilio Piñera's literature has an existentialist foundation in that it addresses themes and ideas such as the importance of the individual, the absurd, freedom, death, etc. I will base this purpose on the principles of French existentialism and German existentialism.
