Spain and Hispanic themes in the literary work by Lajos Kassák

Abstract

In 2017, to commemorate the double anniversary of Lajos Kassák (1887-1967), the greatest figure of Hungarian avant-garde, we conducted research with a double focus. On the one hand, we focused our attention on his reception in Spain, and, on the other hand, we examined the traces of Spain and Hispanic themes in his writings. This article summarizes the results of the second approach, that is, the Hispanic motifs (Spanish personalities and themes) in the prose writings, poetry and some newspaper articles of Lajos Kassák.

Eszter Katona, Universidad de Szeged Departamento de Estudios Hispánicos

Eszter Katona (1976, Szeged, Hungría) se licenció (2000) en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Szeged donde se doctoró en 2005 con la tesis titulada Relaciones entre Italia y España en la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Actualmente trabaja como profesora asociada en el Departamento de Estudios Hispánicos de la Universidad de Szeged, dicta clases de civilización y de literatura española. Sus investigaciones y publicaciones se centran en el ámbito de la historia de España, la literatura española, García Lorca, el teatro español (ss. XX-XXI), el teatro de la memoria y la recepción húngara de la literatura española con especial atención a la recepción de la obra de Federico García Lorca.
