An approach to the study of the corpus of Serbian E/LE learners
Abstract
Due to the fact that learner corpus research relies on findings from corpus linguistics, linguistic theory, second language acquisition, and foreign language teaching, it is commonly claimed that language corpora have many uses in terms of relevance for language teaching and learning. However, corpus elaboration is a very difficult and demanding part of this methodological approach. In this paper, special attention is given to learner corpora and, more specifically, to its elaboration. The learner corpus in the case of Spanish as aForeign Language has been presented, along with the implications of its use. However, there is a need for more systematic studies on the effectiveness of learner corpora in language teaching. The article closes with a list of priorities for further work on an electronic database of learner corpus in the case of Spanish as a Foreign Language.
